Project Cat Feeder Part #1 (old version)

I’ve been working on this project for a few weeks now, and things are finally starting to take shape.
At this point I have a much clearer idea of how I want to structure everything — both the electronics and the physical layout.


🧩 Soldering the TCA9548A I²C Multiplexer

One of the first tasks this week was soldering the pins for the TCA9548A 8-channel I²C multiplexer.
This board will let me handle multiple sensors cleanly without bus conflicts.


🔌 CD74HC4067 16-Channel Analog/Digital Multiplexer

As mentioned in an earlier post, I also soldered several CD74HC4067 multiplexer boards.
They will be essential for handling all the sensor inputs in a scalable way.

I actually used my fly-tying tripod as a soldering assistant — and honestly, it works surprisingly well:


📺 Testing the Big Display Module

Once the multiplexers were soldered, I moved on to testing the display setup.
Below is a quick example showing the “big display” I’ll be using for system status and moisture readings:


🏗️ Assembling Components Into the Chassis

Next step was arranging all components inside the chassis.
I designed custom cases for each module so everything looks clean and fits well — both visually and functionally.

More updates coming as the wiring, displays, and sensors start coming together.
